Trip to Sabah; The Story (Part 1)

On the 22nd May 2011, I woke up at 4.00-4.30 AM in the morning, and wore our P5 camp T-shirts, and longs. Me and SJ(my sister) each had a suitcase in our hands, and a hand-carry backpack, getting ready to leave the house at 5.30 AM, to school and assemble.
After taking attendance, we boarded the bus, heading to the airport. My father waved me goodbye on the bus, and I waved back, and a drop of tear rolled down my cheek.
When we reached the airport, we checked in our luggages, and after an hour or so standing, waiting, we went in the immigration place. After that, we went to Burger King and had a light snack, but we could also sit there, eat or drink nothing.

Then at 8.50 AM we boarded the plane. The plane we took was Silkair.

At 12.30 PM, the plane landed. We claimed our luggages, and met our tour-guide, Ms Mitch. Lunch was followed then.

After lunch, we went to the hotel, but not to check in, but only to put our luggages.
Then, we headed Monsopiad Cultural Village, to learn about this warrior, his legend was very famous to the Kadazandusun people there, in Sabah, Kota Kinabalu(KK) ; On the day Monsopiad was born, the same time he was born, a baby bird was born on the exact same time that Monsopiad was born, on Monsopiad's roof. So, whenever Monsopiad's Dad brings him to shower, the father of the baby bird will also bring the baby bird to shower. They believed that the bird brought him power. When Monsopiad was older, one of his greatest skills was; hunting human skulls. He hunted many many skulls, and the more skulls he hunted, the more boastful he was. Until one day, the villagers were so angry with Monsopiad, and tried to kill him, but failed. But no one knew, that even though they tried to kill Monsopiad but failed, Monsopiad lost his power. Then, one faithful day, the villagers again tried to kill Monsopiad, and this time, it was successful.*end of story*

Then, we went to the house of skulls Monsopiad hunted; a total of 42 skulls, but not all were present as some were broken. At the entrance of the house of skulls, there was a sign in Kadazandusun language, saying 'Sorry, ancestors'. But no spirits were in the house of skulls, because it happened over a 100 years ago, and was only a legend. After we went to the house of skulls, we had a go at the traditional games and dances.

There were still more we learnt there, but too many to actually write all to you guys, so these are ONLY a few out of many I learnt there. After going to Monsopiad Cultural Village, it was already about 45 min past 5 O'clock, and we headed back to the hotel.

When we reached the hotel, it was already 6.30 PM. We were assigned to a room, with a buddy. Then, we headed to our rooms. Once I entered my room, I WAS SO HAPPY! Because actually I wanted to partner my friend who is in another room, but our rooms had connected doors! And only our rooms! My sister's room didn't have connection doors, even all my friends. After the moment of glee, I took a shower. At 7.30 PM, we went down to the hotel to eat dinner.

After dinner, we had a little group discussion. Then, we headed back to our rooms, and chat with our buddies, and my friends in the other room connected to mine and by buddys', and at 10 PM, we slept.

And that was THE END, of Day 1...
